Chuck Mancini
Trip Organizer and Cycling Guide
Chuck grew up in Colombia - a country that produces many pro cyclists - but only started cycling seriously in 2011. While he feels blessed to ride in the Finger Lakes region of Western New York where he lives, he has also enjoyed cycling all over the world, including recreational cycling trips with his wife and family to places like Quebec, the Loire Valley of France, and Northern Italy, and more challenging trips with avid cyclists to the Alps, Pyrenees, and Dolomites of Western Europe, and the mountains of Colorado, Utah, and Arizona in the U.S. From 2012 until he retired in 2021, Chuck worked on the executive team of a global public company in the mining and chemical industry, which created additional opportunities to squeeze in cycling while on business trips, in countries ranging from Australia and South Africa to the U.K., France and Switzerland.
In 2022 Chuck began collaborating with the others on the Rivendell Cycling team in designing, organizing, and leading seven-day supported summer cycling tours in the European alps. They integrate best practices from the established cycling tour operators, incorporate optional morning devotions led by Marc Porpilia, who is a gifted sports chaplain, and price it at highly competitive levels that makes it accessible to those who may have never considered a European cycling trip. The participants come from a wide range of backgrounds, but as they experience the awe-inspiring beauty of the daily rides and sense the transcendent, the daily devotions (which are carefully crafted to make sense to athletes) foster thoughtful consideration of the possibility that there is indeed a God of glory and grace behind their joy.
Chuck is married to Becky and they have two married sons and five grandchildren.
